The way of Peace is through the acculturation of liberty and justice for all. Although our actions through the idea of Peace should be an obvious goal focus of everyday, there are only 2 days that are set apart from the rest,which are dedicated to it. First and foremost, we should take a note of the day known as the International Day of Peace or “World Peace Day”, which falls on September 21st. Ironically, this is a day which is the celebration specifically for the absence of War. In addition, secondly, there is a less formal day celebrated on April 20th, which is a day that is gratified to peace and is celebrated world-wide as well. If these are the only two days out of 365 calendar days recognized for peace in each year than how can we fill in the days unmarked by it? There has been countless days to impact society and government with the promotion of peace through the ideas which come to our thoughts by actions. However there are but two given in legitimate recognition, two as the fingers you hold up to throw a peace sign to a friend.
Four twenty is a symbol that was originally used and practiced by the American Cannabis Culture. Now the idea has evolved into being recognized world-wide. Where did 420 really come from? 4:20 signifies a time where people at San Rafael HS, in 1971, would meet up and gather to carelessly grind on life and school, in a peaceful and subdued manner. May we all be able to think outside the box, and give such peace a chance.
